The reason I don’t have an Xbox 360

I love Microsoft’s online marketplace, their games for the Xbox and Xbox 360, the achievement system for Xbox live, and the general look and feel of the Xbox 360’s interface, but there’s something holding me back from getting one: The freaking defects. Since all Xbox 360’s (10 million something) are defective, getting an Xbox 360 with plans to use it regularly makes the untimely death of your shiny new Halo machine not only likely, but inevitable. Luckily, Microsoft has admitted to the existence of these defects and is working to replace all dead units, but until they have finally made the changes that are needed for their hardware to be reliable, I’m avoiding the 360 like the plague.

This was prompted by a post at Kotaku, detailing the writer’s 9th dead Xbox: Another One Bites the Dust
