K2 Style 3: Stripes

This is the third in my series of styles for K2, which, if I have the time, I hope to add upon almost constantly.

~~Stripes~~

One sidebarNo sidebar

I learned a lot about fixed elements recently, and I decided to apply that in a style for K2, since I’m pretty sure it’s not been done before. I call it stripes, because of course, it’s organized in vertical stripes. Everything is fixed except the main content, which means this might not be ideal for those of you with longer sidebars. I may go back and un-fix the sidebar, possibly in a separate release. Also, I wanted to make it fit in a 1024×768 screen, seeing as that is the most common screen size, so there is no support for two sidebars because that would make it too wide. However, one or no sidebars works without a hitch. Enjoy!

Installation: Just drop “stripes.css” in your K2’s “styles” folder

I love comments, no matter how harsh! If you use this, I would really like it if you posted a link in the comments so that I can see it in the wild, and others who want/need a demo can have one.

Looks great, although I don’t think I will want to use it for my current blog. Keep up the great work though, waiting for that one style that might make me switch.

I love it, only think is that the sidebar on the right is not scrolling…

I’ll mess with that and see if I can make an un-fixed version.

    please help me!
how can i change the color of the red stripe?
is it inside the css file, or what?
    thanks for all.

It is in the CSS, actually. Open the CSS file in your favorite text editor (or web browser) and press Ctrl f (or cmd f on a Mac) to search. Search for “#dd2222″ and replace it with the color code of the color you want the currently-red area to be.

    Great style,
    unfortunately it doesn’t work in K2 RC1 for me. There’s always a sidebar I can’t remove.

  17. 17 Colin H. Sep 27th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

@Riccardo: Honestly, I tried and could not. I am very sorry.
@dhohmann: Oh, is that a new K2? I guess I should update my styles.

Also, Riccardo, the URL you supplied as your site is beautiful, I don’t see why you would want to change your theme, anyways.

It doesn’t work very well on K2RC2 but I’m trying to figure out why…

It’s an alignment problem with the content.
