K2 Style 4: Burnt (NOW SUPPORTS RC3!)

The fourth in my series of styles for K2, this one is called Burnt, due to the slightly burnt orange color that is featured in the header and footer. I was trying to make one where the content was framed evenly on all sides, like a picture frame, but I strayed way too far from that original idea, and came up with this.

~~Burnt v1.0 (UPDATED)~~

One Column

UPDATE: YEP! It’s been updated! The header is smaller, and a lot more clean, as is the footer. Download it below!

This time, it actually supports all sidebar variations (none, one, and two), so that should make some of you that were previously left out feel better. This one has a fixed header and footer, and although that takes up a lot of screen space, I really want people to start thinking more about their footer. The footer is typically an ugly little thing with copyright, credit, etc, and what I want to do is make it attractive, so much so that you might want to show it off a bit! So here, I will give you some codes to replace the footer with, and they will be a work in progress. I hope to add instructions to add Twitter, Pownce, or a tag cloud to the footer in the near future.

Download v1.0 (NEW!)

Download v0.5 (Old)

Installation: Just drop “burnt.css” in your K2’s “styles” folder.

Download (NEW - zip)

Download (OLD - zip)

Better footer is composed of a few simple, elegant images that give credit where credit is due. To install, unpack the zip file and copy the folder “burnt footer” and the file “footer.php” to your main K2 directory, overwriting the previous “footer.php”.I love comments, no matter how harsh! If you use this, I would really like it if you posted a link in the comments so that I can see it in the wild, and others who want/need a demo can have one. Older

    nice style!
is it possible to change the header to some image?

I suppose it is. If you know some CSS, and can do it yourself, then it should just work. Otherwise, you should be able to add an image that will tile horizontally in the K2 Preferences.

    Hi,

I really, really like the footer concept. I am installing burnt right now at my blog. I plan to make some changes to it, but at least for the moment, it should give some idea of how Burnt.

    Hello,

Lovely style! I modified it a bit so that the footer is fixed on all static pages, but floats on my blog page. I also moved the menu and added a background to make it more visible.

Have a look at it at my site.

    Thanks,
    Håvar
