Sony screws America over, I’ll never forgive them

Sony Logo

Although Sony has been promising color variations on the current PSP model since its release, American consumers have been left out in the cold, not even receiving the basic ceramic white model available basically everywhere else. In fact, we haven’t even gotten the camera attachment here, while Japan has had it for more than a year, and Europe for a few months. The camera was shown off at the initial unveiling of the PSP at E3 (here in America, mind you), those many years ago, why haven’t we seen it here?

At the Leipzig gaming conference in Germany, Sony has just announced that Europe will be getting not only a VoIP service for the PSP, but instant messaging, a video download service, and GPS. I’m not expecting Sony to ever release these on this side of the Atlantic, it would probably be a waste of effort and money, as most PSP owners over here don’t care about all the media functions of the PSP, and only think of it as a gaming console. Even so, until Sony announces that it is releasing at least the VoIP here, I’m not going to buy any more Sony products. As little of an impact this will have, I feel something needs to be done about it.

Read, read, read, and read.

I have never been a big fan of Sony after most of their PS3 decisions. To explain, I used to be a Sony fan when I had my PSX and PS2, it wasn’t until my PS2 stopped reading disks and I got an Xbox I saw there were alternatives out there. I had high hopes for the PS3 though, the biggest hope that it would be comparable in price to what else was offered by competition, well mostly that I could afford it. When they announced the price I basically wrote off any love for Sony and focused elsewhere. I don’t think I will own a PS3 until it is in the $399 range or lower, until then I will enjoy my 360 and all the great games coming out for it.

I used to be a huge sony fan. Great video camera, great walkmen, but now, it’s all crap. It’s really too bad…

I think that the rest of their things are really good, like the Cybershot cameras or the Walkman phones, but being left out by Sony in the one area I have spent the most money is just a little much for me.

It doesn’t make good business sense not to expand the PSP line in America, and boost its feature hold. Still, I have to say that I love Sony TVs. It’s all I own. (We just bought a 40″ Bravia not long ago. Love love love love it!)

Agreed. I’d have gotten a Sony TV, but they’re too expensive. D:
